Door Light PowerPod®- Black Housing, White & Red LEDs

Description

Door Light PowerPod® – A simple pop-in replacement for the stock Hella light (823947105B) that’s above the driver’s door. It features two high output LEDs (one white, one red) and a 3 way switch in a durable 3D printed Black ABS housing.

Note: I’d recommend pushing the the stock insulation out of the way as LEDs can run hot. You may also need to bend the little sheet metal tabs in or out to achieve the snap fit like depicted in the video.

Note: Insert the SWITCH END in first, then push the other end into place when installing.

The wiring of the uniWerks Design LED Door Light PowerPod™ is pretty straightforward. Please refer to the electrical schematic provided above for more information. You will need some basic experience with automotive electrical systems but it is not hard to wire up this product. Please seek the help of someone who has experience if you are unsure of how to do this.

Note that the stock light that you are replacing can be switched on in two ways. The first is from the opening of the door and the second is from the switch on the light. Also be aware that in the Vanagon, Brown wires are grounds. 

One customer was nice enough to give me a write up on how he installed his units, this worked for him with his van. 

• Cut the wire harness from both LED’s to about 3in in length. 
• Strip the black outer harness 2in, to expose the red and black wires within.
• Join both of the red wires together.
• Join both of the black wires together.
• Attach female connectors to the red and black wires.
• The Black Connector goes to the center of the switch. 
• The Red Connector goes to the hot lead from the overhead light. 
• The Ground leads going to the stock lamp need new connector ends, remove and replace them. 
• Attach the new leads on each side of the new switch.
• Run jumper wires for additional lighting as needed.
